Infinity box (2018)

for three performers

Infinity Box is a site-specific performance piece, created for the first iteration of the PROMPTUS performance collective. Designed for a unique conference room at a modern coworking space in Brooklyn, the piece engages with questions of what it means to watch and be watched. The three performers are taught various and rigorous cuing systems, and the idiosyncratic windows of the conference room act as a score. As such, the performers are “coworking” but also competing, racing to enclose these windows by the end of the piece and thus disguise proof of the goings-on inside. In a spirit of whimsy that questions the ubiquitous presence of work in our culture, Pokémon cards act as a wild Tarot spread for the piece, inspiring text and movement throughout, alongside performers’ own personal confessions.
